#BlackBlogsMatter Challenge Day 11: Black Face

February 11, 2018

My parents took me to see the movie “Soul Man” when I was 10 years old. At the time I didn’t fully grasp the magnitude of the racism expressed. I could only understand that a white man pretended to be a black man to get accepted to Harvard.

But that was just a harmless movie, right?

Whether it’s the minstrel shows of the past, Rachel Dolezal’s “trans-racial” delusions, Vijay Chokal-Ingram’s real life Soul Man con, Halloween “costuming”, or seemingly inoffensive teenage shenanigans; Black Face is never acceptable.
